Saturday at Brand Library

One of my favorite places in Glendale is the Brand Library & Art Center. It's location 1601 W. Mountain Street makes you feel you're on top of the world. For me, it's more than a Library. It feels like home. It's probably the most unique public Library I've been - it's sorroundings is so green and provide plenty of shades, making it ideal for picnics or just plain getaway. The Library is housed in a mansion built in 1904. The architecture is considered Saracenic, mixture of Moroccan, Spanish and Indian influences. In contrast to the elegant, cool white exterior, a Victorian decor was followed inside. This Library is considered the art and music section of the Glendale Public Library . If you an have an ipod or a Zune that you need to fill with songs, this is definitely the place to go. Did you know that with your Glendale Public Library card you can check out up to a maximum of 15 Cd's in one visit and would probably never buy since this library has a massive collection of music CD's. You'll be surprise and will end up spending hours and hours browsing to their entire collection that are quite hard to find these days. I must have borrowed the complete collection of Sergio Mendes and the Brazil 65 to his latest Timeless CD collaboration with current artist. Whether you like the Beatles or Andrea Bocelli, you will find their CD' collection here. There is also an Art Gallery that features changing exhibits of work of the contemporary Southern California artist. The Brand Library hours vary. Tuesday & Thursday 12 - 8 pm, Wednesday is 12 -6 pm, Friday & Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Sundays and Mondays. So when have time, go and visit this library and believe me you will find yourself coming back for more.
